For Memorial Day we visited my Grandma Alice, Gracie's namesake, also known as Granny with the Pool. She lives in Lodi where it is beautiful, smells delicious, and is heaven.

We arrived on Friday and visited Popi's grave on Sunday...

We drove 12 hours, in one day, and the first thing they felt like doing was jumping in a comfy hot tub to a freezing pool! Do you think all of the time in the car addled their brains?

There are always frogs at Granny's and the kids (and the big kid Daddy) had a riot hunting them down and subjecting them to a lot of love.

The next morning we went for a walk, down to the barn and canal. The kids got to pet a baby horse named River and Rob risked life and limb to catch them a tadpole. Ewww.

Brody bonded with Granny over a game that I still don't understand...and the girls played in the office. They made nothing short of 9,000 credit cards out of post-its and tape. If you don't have any left, Granny, I'm sorry!!!

After a whole lot of relaxing, walking, swimming, eating, and talking we packed up the car for the trip home.

We said all our goodbyes, took all these pictures and got in the car. The car wouldn't start! Our battery was shot, although we had no idea and thought it would be fine with a little jump. So, Rob took Granny's four wheeler down to the barn and got the battery jumpy thingy. It worked like a charm :)

When we reached Lovelock, the battery was dead again, because we made the mistake of turning the car off! So, after a lovely man in a sleeveless shirt (obviously Rob's kindred spirit of red neckedness) jumped our car, we finally reached Winnemucca. We stopped at the Super FatMart and replaced the battery, while the kids slept in clueless bliss. It was 12:00 A.M.. Thank you Walmart employees for working the night shift, we love you.

For these things I am thankful:

That Rob was there and is handy

That we didn't end up on one of those extremely long stretches of nothingness with no power
and,

That the In n' Out, The smell of Lodi, and Granny's soft cheeks were all worth it!!!

Can't Help Lovin' That Man of Mine...

This sweet little, brown eyed, bit of cuteness just turned 33! We also recently celebrated our 11th year anniversary, so I am going to celebrate the man a little...

I realized I loved Rob when we were a ripe old 17 years of age. He told me, recently, that he could see glimpses of who I would be...back then. I think I must have felt the same way, because we were just two silly high schoolers, but there was no way I was letting him get away...he was and is an incredible person.

So, I married him at the ripe old age of 21! It was blissful and lovely, that fun day of making him all mine :)

There are many things that I did not know about Rob when we married...

#1 He makes beautiful, dynamic, resilient, fun, and talented kids.

#2 He is a baby whisperer, ask any of my friends who they give their babies to when they are fussy...it's Rob. He really does have a special talent with babies. I think it is because he is pure in heart and they can sense it, but whatev.

#3 He obviously does it for me, but he just keeps getting better with age. The salt and pepper is totally hot.
#4 He has an incredible work ethic, and literally NEVER gives up when he wants something. He is an unfailing provider, protector, and companion.

#5 He is fun loving and easy to live with. He will stop in the middle of a project (if you know his father then you know that this is a minor miracle) to help the kids and I build a monster snowman, just because. He is an AMAZING father. I have never felt the need to step in with he and our children, he is just and patient.

#6 He is an expert tooth puller/sliver taker outer. The kids won't let me within a ten mile radius of them, when they have a sliver. They will walk that ten miles to find Dad to take it out, because he is that awesome.

#7 If there is a Dad helping the kids catch lizards, it's gonna' be Rob. He is just one of the kids and they love him for it.

Rob has turned out to be so much better of a husband/father/man than I could have imagined. I knew he was my best friend and I needed to be with him, but he has so drastically outdone my original perception of who he was.
I feel like Heavenly Father gave me this great gift.
He is the best man I have ever known, and I do not say that lightly. Everyone has good in them and there are many good men. He is just my very favorite human being.
Here's to many more years together
and an eternity of, just before bed, us time.
Happy Birthday,
Happy Anniversary,
and I love you.

Today...

Today, I watched one of my favorite movies, Lost in Austen and roasted marshmellows with a good friend

Then I went to Connie and Steve's for dinner and saw a whole slew of hummingbirds! (Yes they keep their Christmas lights up all year long :)

Then I put some pretty colored spots on some lamb's butts, they were determined to get in the garden today!!
It was a good day. Rob is back in Pocatello, so it is back to being a little lonely...but, very thankful for that man. I love him more when he is gone! I am so glad that we got to have him home for a few weeks, it was heaven!! I will try to not take it for granted when he is done with the Pocatello job :)
I was really thankful for my friend today, too. There are very few things better than a good movie, by a fire, with a great friend. I love my friends!!

Gracie's Piano Skills

Gracie, her teacher, and her husband in the backround :)

Gracie and her cutie patootie friend, Jess

The kids in the car, on the way to the church in Coalville for Gracie's recital. It was a lot of fun to watch Goob show off her sweet piano skills. She pretty much rocked the house :)

Kindergarten is almost over :(

Avery had her kindergarten program and it was delightful. (Especially Avery's singing/yelling, illustrated below) We got to sit by some of my favorite people and laugh at all those adorable kids! I was so thankful that Rob's been able to be home for a few weeks and was able to come, Avery was over the moon to have Daddy there. Seriously, moms are sooo overrated. I can NOT believe how quickly this school year has gone...Brody is next, everyone pray for me.

Spur of the Moment Moab

We randomly decided to go to Moab, rent a condo, and go jeeping. It was a lot of fun, we hope to do it again.

THIS is what we were jeeping, once again, Me = sissy, Rob = adventurous

Catchin' lizards...

Or just their tails...Avery wanted me to touch this and I ran away screaming!

It was soooo cool, so many of these beautiful spots to drive

There were tons of jeeps out there!

I'm excited/mildly scared!

We are buckled, ready to go Daddy!! Drive!!!!

We also went to this enormous sand hill and got really dirty!

Rob did flips down and looked like this!

Gracie did flips down and looked like this!

Mid-flip shots...
Scrrreeeeeching to a stop!

Boys and dirt were made to be :)

Daddy had a lot of fun, being the large boy that he is

It was a lot of great family time, and the kids are still asking when we can go back to Mowab...hopefully soon!
